I am currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in International and Comparative Law at SOAS, University of London. Prior to my current degree, I studied Linguistics in India and the crux of my interest is riveted at the crossroad of law and language.
Communication is a crucial part of law and on many occasions, it has proven to be the driving force of any given issue. The policies and protocols that revolve around legal negotiations hold a special lucre for me and this is precisely why I am extremely keen on applying for this position. To me this is an ideal platform to hone my legal acumen and communication skills and I am sure this will prove highly advantageous to my future aspirations.
In the past, I have worked with the United Nations Information Centre in New Delhi as an intern for two months. One of the key skills that I acquired in the course of this experience was researching on the legal and political aspects of the issues at hand and drafting relevant literature on the same, be it the speeches for the director, communique for the press or blogs and op-eds for the media.
Subsequently, before the commencement of my master’s degree at SOAS, I was also engaged with an independent legal think tank in India in the capacity of an Associate Fellow for Communications. Here too, I was responsible for the research and drafting of legal initiatives and act as the media link for publicizing the reports.
Further, I have been engaged with a London based children’s charity called the Wings of Hope, working in their flagship social enterprise programme called the Wings of Hope Achievement Award which brings together students from over 100 UK schools.
I have held leadership positions in my undergraduate years and have organized events and looked after their logistical and promotional needs. Therefore, I am convinced that given a chance, I will be able to fulfill the tasks expected of me, competently and I shall endeavor to excel in all such assignments that I’m made a part of.
I have extremely keen on working with you and I hope you will find my application worth your while. I shall eagerly anticipate your response on the same.
