    Gravitas

Meaning: It is a Latin word meaning “seriousness” or “heaviness”. More specifically, it can mean the character and the function of an adult to be of high seriousness. It can also reflect upon the person’s treatment of a matter. This word was used by the Romans to address the character of a male adult and was considered a prime quality. Today, it is used to describe both men and women.

Example: A candidate who lacks gravitas must not be selected for this role
